At CAILab, we aim to develop and train the next generation of Human-AI Interaction researchers and designers. We are always on the look out for highly motivated and collaborative individuals who wish to work at the intersection of mobile and pervasive computing, context-aware computing, applied machine learning, and Human-Computer Interaction. Our research topics include:
Understanding and supporting mental health using AI
Social interaction sensing for child developmental support
Sensing, predicting, and developing interactions to support children with special needs
Human-AI Interaction with Large-Language Models

We are currently looking for the following:
PhD Students
You should have a a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline. You should be competent in at least one programming language and have strong abilities to quickly prototype full-stack interactive interfaces empowered with AI, and should be competent in Computer Vision and/or Natural Language Processing. You should also demonstrate basic understanding of the conduct of user studies. We also offer highly competitive scholarships to outstanding students enrolled in our PhD programmes such as:
Research Interns
Candidate should currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme in related disciplines. He or she should have a keen interest to learn more about Human-Computer Interaction and AI research.
Research Interns
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistants (one for each project) to support our ongoing research projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the research team to assist in human-computer interaction research and AI system development, including data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research and contribute to high-impact research.
Research Assistants
We have two positions for Research Assistants for the following projects (one RA each):
Enhancing Mental Health Support through Context-Aware Text Communication Systems [This position is for 2.5 years]
TalkSketch: Enhancing Concept Generation through Sketching Supported by Large Multimodal Models [This position is for 3 years]
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or relevant field.
Skills:
Strong analytical skills with experience in rapid prototyping web-based and/or native mobile apps that use AI.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Experience: Previous experience in research or a related field is preferred but not required.
